History
I-195 was built in 1982 to relieve congestion on streets in Saco, mainly from visitors to Old Orchard Beach. Exit 5 off the Maine Turnpike, which formerly connected to Route 112 (North Street), was moved to 195. The ramps to 112 remained abandoned for several years until the opening of the Saco Hotel and Conference Center in 1999.
