History

Route 103 was created in 1965 from a former alignment of Route 2. It was extended north from its former northern terminus in Hartland in 1969 when a new section of the Trans-Canada Highway opened between there and Florenceville.

In 2004, 103's southern end in the Woodstock area was changed with the opening another new Trans-Canada freeway segment. As a small part of Route 2 near 103's former south end at Bulls Creek was closed to traffic, 103 was rerouted to end at the Houlton Road interchange, usurping part of Route 555 in the process. The former section of 103 between Woodstock and Bulls Creek, as well as the former TCH between Bulls Creek and Meductic, was absorbed into the new Route 165.

Guide

Route 103 follows the west bank of the Saint John River between Woodstock and Florenceville. Among other uses, it connects the Trans-Canada Highway to downtown Woodstock, and the world's longest covered bridge in Hartland.
