I hate when I get Steelers games. I hate the Steelers.
http://thebubblescreen.blogspot.com
@ Naqdop: yeah – Comcast schedule agrees – Houston market will be getting Saints-Browns, thanks God.
@Sean
If you don,t want the Steeler game…i’ll take it!
anyone know if the tampa will get a cbs early game- mia/steelers it shows nothing now
@Nick
As I explained on the other threads….since tampa didnt sell out normally the local market wouuld get:
1pm FOX (nondoubleheader network)
and
4:15 CBS (doubleheader network)
Usually these are the national games that go to most of the market.
Tampa Bay is in an unusual circumstance this week with the schedule so thy could buck the trend…
They could take the 1pm CBS game….they have 3 choices popular sam state steelers-dolphins or the games against divisional rivals bengals-falcons or browns-saints.
Then at 4pm they take the FOX game because they will play both those teams later this year.
The decision is solely of the TV stations in the network..but that means that CBS and FOX have to come to some sort of deal….which they would have to do if they were to flip games.
I think one ofthe factors in this will be the baseball series since the NL is on FOX if there is a game 7 it will be Sunday night on FOX so they dont want to have the game run over the start of the ball game.
WTSP (10 News) will air PIT-MIA, forcing WTVT (FOX 13) to go with ARI-SEA.

@Jags Suck I agree with you. I don’t understand why the NFL still to this day sees fit to force the unwelcome Jaguars on Greater Orlando. If WKMG (Local 6) were allowed to air PIT-MIA, I guarantee it would do it in a hot second, which it really needs to get the green light to do. Not that it’ll happen, but right is right.
I sent an email to the Local Tampa CBS station and they said if the Bucs dont sell out they will show the Dolphins/Steelers game (Whoo Go Steelers) this has been confirmed here:
http://www.wtsp.com/news/topstories/story.aspx?storyid=152178&catid=250 so all the currently blacked out area in FL for the CBS 1pm game should switch to the Dolphins Steelers game
Why is WUSA (Cahnnel 9 in Washington, DC) carrying the Bills- Ravens game at 1:00 instead of Pittsburgh-Miami? I know they claim they are forced to carry the Ravens away games, but this is a Ravens home game.
thanks djp well heres to hoping that the mia game does show tv guide says to be announced still thanks again
@Marcus
I got a e-mail from a media friend today just after noon stating that WTSP indeed was changing their programming due to thousands of protesting fans wanting to see the Steeler game at 1:00 on CBS 10. So needless to say i am a happy camper.
what in gods name is wrong with the NFL? I live in Savannah GEORGIA but I’m being forced to watch the lowly Jaguars instead of the 4-2 ATLANTA FALCONS (THE ONLY NFL TEAM IN GEORGIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) This is just dumb! In Jacksonville (where I have lived previously) the NFL always spent the bulk of their effort BLACKING OUT EVERY SINGLE GAME POSSIBLE for the folks who live in or around Jacksonville due to poor attendance at the games, now that I am back in my home state (originally from Atlanta) they have turned their efforts toward forcing others in THE FALCONS BACKYARD to watch the game they have probably blacked out for any and all Jaguar fans in Jacksonville INSTEAD of airing the Falcons game that is being played at the same time?????? I understand that the t.v. maps are done according to “regions” rather than using any logic but why can’t the NFL stretch the Jaguars “region” west rather than north to maybe include their own state, say maybe to Lake City? maybe south to Gainsville? seeing as how the nearest NFL franchise is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to the south and the New Orleans Saints to the west you’d naturally think they’d have the room to spread that retarded map they currently have spanning from the southern most tip of Jacksonville’s city limits ALL THE WAY NORTH INTO THE CAROLINA’S AND WEST JUST FAR ENOUGH TO STAIN SAVANNAH!!!!!! It makes no sense at all why Savannah GA has to miss an Atlanta Falcons game for a JACKSONVILLE (FLORIDA) JAGUARS game? It is ONE WEEK!!!! I assure you NFL, I will go back to ignoring this complete and utter disregard for any and all common sense come next week. Stupid rules for fans, stupid fines for players, stupid maps for viewers, WAY TO GO GUYS!!!! This has been an epic week for you all!!
Bye the way, how much money have you guys made above and beyond the $175,000 you fined the players this week on the images you are selling of said infractions? one of those hits was a dirty hit, I’ll give you that, but the “devastating” hit on Deshawn Jackson? Lokked like a corner trying to jar the ball loose from a receiver to me. He had already made at least 3 “football moves” after catching the ball that I saw? It would appear as though the receiver would be the party to blame in my opinion because he was not “keeping his head on a swivel” as you say, and by not being aware of his surroundings on the football field while still running full speed he is putting not only himself in danger but the defender as well. Was it “to hard” for you pencil pushing accountants who never played the game? was that why you raised such a stink about it? oh but not to hard to market your league behind by selling the images of it as long as you could before Robinson announced he would appeal the fine right? maybe you should have a minimum size requirement for NFL players? Jackson weighing a whopping 175lbs may have more to do with why he didn’t get back on his feet afterward and lets say Dustin Keller of the NY Jets did after having the EXACT SAME HIT LAID ON HIM BY RAY LEWIS IN WEEK 1 (bye the way, you guys forgot to get in a huff about that one, you might need to call mr Lewis and ask for that $50,000 he owes you according to your new “devastating” hit rule)
sorry for changing the subject but the NFL has totally amazed me this week with their thoroughness for stupidity!
signed,
A TRULY PISSED OFF FALCONS FAN WHO WILL BE MISSING ALL OF YOUR BROADCASTING ON SUNDAY THANKS TO YOU, IDIOTS!!!!!!!!
@ brad
I know it sucks but welcome to the club of “secondary markets” which I think is stupid. Savannah, GA is considered a secondary market for JAX, just like getting suck in Los Angeles as a secondary market for the Chargers. I know how you feel I would rather watch the Raiders or other teams each week, but those rules will blackout “secondary markets” and force them to air all of a certain teams road games. The rule does not apply to home games.
@John Foust
I’ll trade you. I’d rather get the Ravens game in Richmond. I’m tired of the map getting skewed by millions of Steelers fans who have never been to Pennsylvania in their lives.
@ Brad
Savanah is a secondary market to Jacksonville…in part because it is the neighboring market and they set this up because they believed the fan base in the area that comes out for college football will come out for the pros and in that area they would trek in fromm a few hours away….so savannah is a secondary market.
Savanah is only required to show ROAD games which this week is.
It so happens this week is one of 2 games CBS potential gets of the Falcons.
blame the NFL for scheduling.
They could have shifted eith jacksonville game or atlanta game to a 4:15 start time.
The NFl did the same thing when they scheduled a Chargers road game on a non doubleheader on the same weekend as the bay area rivalry game.
@ OTHERS
PART OF THE REASON that tampa switched isnt as much because of the steelers as it it was because it was the dolphins.
Why isn’t channel 10 in Tampa Florida broadcasting the Chargers/Patriots game in the late afternoon game?
The entire state of Florida,except for Tampa will be watching the Chargers/Patriots? I don’t understand!
@Joe
Because WTSP(CBS) and WTVT(FOX), flipped their programming. WTSP now has the Pitt/Miami game as the early game and WTVT(FOX) now has the late game. Chargers/Patroits would be a CBS broadcast. And there can be only 2 games shown in the Tampa Bay market.
@Joe…..
because tampa is at home and its no seel out…you will only get one CBS game inst of the doubleheader two games.
The question is which game to get….
the 1pm or 4:15 game….
The initially assigned the 1pm FOX and 4:15 CBS…that was initially planned because had the Bucs been sold out that game would be on FOx…but since not a sell out they could switch times.
The early 1pm game on CBS had a few options..the big one was Pittsburgh @ miami..Miami is poular in tampa bay and there is a strong steeler fan base and both groups pushed a switch.
the other factor was the late FOX game was more attractive because the Bucs play both those teams later this year. one of the oppoents come to tampa bay to play.
I am sure there were others pushing to switch to the Saints or Falcoms game because those teams are division rivals.
@Brad….you said:
“the “devastating” hit on Deshawn Jackson? Lokked like a corner trying to jar the ball loose from a receiver to me. He had already made at least 3 “football moves” after catching the ball that I saw?”
Its obvious you are so objective given you are a falcons fan.
an objective person watching that clip sees it as a defender leading with the helmet on a hit which is a penalty under the rules. He did the same hit without leading with his helmet would have been perfectly legal….But the first player contact on Jackson was with the helmet.
Isn’t Hartford CT a secondary market for the Patriots? It is less than 100 miles from there to Foxborough, MA, where the Patriots play.
I can’t believe the local CBS affiliate in Dothan, Alabama is not showing the Falcons game! The local Fox affiliate always shows the Falcons and CBS usually does to but they are showing the Dolphins game? No one in South east Alabama gives a crap about the Dolphins or the Steelers. All 12 of the NFL fans in this city are either Falcons fans, Saints fans, or Cowboys fans. Damn I hate the NFL. Wish they would go to a regional sports network like baseball that way at least I know I’ll get every game for my team.
I hate Ytown and this secondary market bullshit!!!
@Scottbravesfan & Adam
The lucky thing about where both of you are, you could drive across the state line to see the other game. It is weird that Dothan gets the national game considering New Orleans and Atlanta are closer. Alabama should get either of those games.
Why is WUSA9 in DC showing EVERY single Ravens game this year??? Ravens v Bills? I’d rather watch paint dry. Especially when you have a much more compelling Steelers v Dolphins game in the same slot.
I’d also bet that there are many more Steelers fans than Ravens fans in the DC area. I don’t believe secondary market rules apply here as the Ravens are at home, not away.
Pathetic.

@ScottBravesfan
Dotham is taking that game because these are two teams with many fans nationwide. The immediate market consists of a military base which likely has a significant influence for CBS games.
also….Jacksonville is closer than New Orleans to Dothan.
WTVF, Channel 5 in Nashville, will not be airing the Steelers vs Miami today. Anytime the Titans are on and they are today on Fox, we do not see any other games in Nashville! Too sad! GOOOO STEELERS!!!
Well I wanna see the Steelers, as I’m a die-hard fan. But somebody made the brilliant decision to show the Jaguars at Chiefs. We’re one of the few areas in the US that won’t see it. Could be worse though, usually here in Coastal Georgia, they ram those damn Falcons down our throats! Oh well at least I can see it online.
For the life of me I can not understand who would believe it would be a good idea to broadcast the JACKSONVILLE, FL team in Georgia. Who in Georgia wants to see the Jaguars when the Falcons are on TV? As far as I’m concerned those people should have to take extra mesures to see their team if they want to watch it that bad. I as a falcons fan should not have to spend extra money to see my team play. This is unbelievable!!! To make matters worse it looks like I am just inside the border on the map. WHY? WHY? WHY?
[...] of us living in the New York area (as well as most elsewhere in the country) will be seeing both Dolphins-Steelers and Patriots-Chargers on this CBS doubleheader weekend. So what is your take? Obviously, we want [...]
Well wth my guide this morning at 10 am had the NE game at 4pm it’s Little Shop of Horrors ?!?!
@SteelersFan4Life
NFL rules PROHIBIT that game being shown. Titans at home FOX has rights…the home game is exclusivly on which means NO CBS GAME.
@ Derrick @ Smith
Jacksonville is on the road so savanah is a secondary market and MUST televize Jacksonville road games over any other game.
Every week it’s the same mind-numbing thing: Wash, DC locals crying about Ravens games being televised. Talk about a broken record.
@BummedInDC says: “Why is WUSA9 in DC showing EVERY single Ravens game this year??? Ravens v Bills? I’d rather watch paint dry.”
While you were watching paint dry (one coat or two?), I watched a very entertaining, overtime Bills-Ravens game today. Last week I also watched a very entertaining overtime Ravens game. In fact all of the Ravens games thus far this season have been very thrilling.
Thank you NFL for having the brilliance to make the Ravens a secondary market for DC; ignore the haters and carry on.
@BummedInDC says: “I don’t believe secondary market rules apply here as the Ravens are at home, not away.”
WUSA knows quite well what they are doing when they choose to air Ravens games. The ratings Ravens games draw will explain everything.
@DJP
Thanks for your detailed thorough explanations. They really help understand how some decisions are made by the network and or the affiliates. You know your stuff.
