We in Houston would greatly prefer to see the Titans vs Chargers game, NOT the stinking Vikings vs Patriots. Who plans these things?!!
@Maureen
That is the idea…Tory Aikman and Joe Buck is the #1 team who do the #1 game which usualy is the 4:15 game on a doubleheader weekend.
The only reason Buck isnt announcing is because he does the world series on FOX.
This week…Jacksonville @ Dallas was the #1 game because it had the #1 crew doing that game.
To those of you angry with WFTX “FOX 4″ for airing the MN-NE game: put the blame on the league. They decide which station or affiliate airs which game, NOT the station or affiliate of that market. The league decided the MN-NE game would draw more viewers than the TB-AZ game in the Fort Myers market. Sadly, they are right. There are a lot of Patsies living in SW FL.
@JayR More Pats fans than Bucs or Dolphins fans in SW Florida? No way that’s the case. FOX 4 ALWAYS airs the Bucs. There was no Dolphins conflict, which is why this decision made no sense. The Bucs were 4-2 going into that game at Arizona, so there was no excuse for FOX 4 to air Vikings-Patriots. Anyone in SW Florida who wanted to see Vikings-Patriots should’ve had to either to get Sunday Ticket or go to a sports bar. If FOX 4 aired the Bucs game, I guarantee it’d have gotten fewer complaints.
FOX4 just addressed this on the news. They said it was a decision made by management based on expected ratings. They played some voice mails (with a lot of bleeps) and read some of the emails.
@gms
Thanks for the info. I missed that segment on the news. I have to find the video later for sure. At least they acknowledged their mistake and let the viewers know how the fans felt. Well, if it’s any consolation, Fox4 already has next Sunday’s Bucs game listed on their schedule:

I’m sure this mngt decision won’t happen again for a LONG, LONG, time.
It is nice to see the station admit that management made an error. The advertisers were probably not happy either. It does show that sometimes flooding stations with angry emails about the wrong game being put on can work.
I know commentating crews are planned in advance where they go but, when the #1 game has the #1 crew covering it and is not as appealing as it was supposed to be, then it should be regionalized. This pertains to the JAC-Dallas game.
