2010 week 10
@bayoucat
The #1 team will likely work the tampa bay @ baltimore thus it would move to the late game.
The #1 team needs to see baltimore give the potential of them going to the superbowl and FOX airs it this year.
the other time they get the Ravens is when they host the Saints in week 15…but that week they also have eagles 2 ginats which the #1 team would work.
I wonder if FOX and CBS may talk of flipping schedule plans between week 15 and week 16 because of game they each have on a non doubleheader week for that network.
on week 15 FOX could have eagles @ giants in one slot and saints @ ravens in another slot
NBC will not flex in week 15 with them having Packers @ Patrioits
in week 16, right now a FOx doublheader week CBS has
tenn @ KC
indy @ oakland
jets @ chicago
This week is one where san diego @ cincinnati will be given back to CBS and another game taken.
@Matt&DJP-
Bucs/Ravens would not be a bad choice either, it certainly would allow the Redskins and Ravens to be shown in different slots, but I’m just saying I feel FOX just loves NFC East teams and that until proven otherwise, I think as long as an NFC East team is in a halfway decent matchup, they tend to feature them in the 4:15 window. I suggested Eagles-Bears because of the Vick and the NFC East factor and the fact that two big market teams are involved. I guess we should know our answer sometime next week.
@ bayoucat
Here in Cincinnati we are currently scheduled to get Panthers @ Browns in Week #12. If Bucs @ Ravens does stay a 1:00 game (I still feel 4:15 though, then I definitely see WXIX 19 switching to this game.
@Matt 4163-
Bucs/Ravens could be the one to move. The main reason I said Eagles-Bears is because while I was watching the Saints game during the telecast, the announcers said “Here are some big games in the coming weeks”: Week 10-Cowboys/Giants; Week 11-Redskins/Titans; Thanksgiving; Saints/Cowboys and in Week 12 Eagles/Bears. Is it possible that Fox protected Bucs/Ravens? Even so, whatever game they protected would probably be the 4:15 game.
@Bayoucat
What I am saying is that the Bucs @ Ravens is a game the #1 team covers. Usually that implies that game will be the 4:15 game.
The reason is because in preparation for the super bowl that FOX has they will want their announcers to see potential AFC teams when they can first hand over the course of the season.
There are two opportunities as of now for the Ravens….the Bucs game and a later Saints game.
The problem is that the Saints game is on a single game week for FOX where they also will have Eagles @ Giants.
It would be nice to live in a world where LA’s second FOX owned station (KCOP) would show an alternative game. However that would make NFL’s Sunday Ticket less attractive. Just saying.
@Drewdove
You only have one network…the other is an independent station or affiliated with another network in LA that happens to be owned by FOX.
Before the Cable Act of the mid 1990s the cable companies used to pull the broadcasts from neighboring markets and show these on the community planning/access stations so you would get 4-6 games instead of 2 or 3. I grew up in buffalo so we would get games from rochester and Erie. On top of that we may also get a different game that would be picked up by CTV in Toronto when they would carry a game of the week the second half of the season.
Show the darned Rams in L. A.!! San Fran vs the Rams is an old rivalry, but we get to see the Giants beat Dallas by 40 points…Thanks a lot networks and NFL…..
@ Jimi Streets
You’re right and the rockies should be doing the same by showing western games not the Giants and the loser Cowboys.
@DJP
KCOP is a MyNetwork affiliate. MyNetwork is owned by NewsCorp and is a FOX network like FX.
My point is the NFL is tight fisted with network coverage of their games. Otherwise both networks would get two games a week.
I would not be surprised if, in the future, NFL games became cable/sat only thru subscription NFL network channels.
@Drewdove
What I am surprised about….that the NFL network doest simulcast NFL games from CBS and FOX feeds where they stick to one game and show it and its different from what you get locally.
Jets @ Browns or Titans @ dolphins
Power outage @ The New Meadowlands Stadium. WXIX 19 in Cincinnati briefly went to bonus coverage of Rams @ 49ers, then went back to the Giants game when the lights came back on.
@Matt4163
They played with a power shortage….only when the FOX truck fried did they flip games.
@ DJP
I agree with most of your predictions for next week’s coverage. Flip a coin for what OKC and its state will do, Rams or Cowboys.
The early CBS games could have the Texans-Jets game have wider distribution because of the Jets record.
The FOX early game that could go national would be the NFC North GB-MIN. Fox has been putting the Vikings on wider distribution and the Rodgers-Favre show easily upstages the Wash-Tenn game.
I agree with the FOX late games although the Seahawks-Saints game could also be the token game. Superbowl champs playing a division leader.
@Naqdop
The records of both teams average out. 7-2 vs 4-5 or 6-3 vs 5-4.
BUT Raiders @ Steelers are both division leaders
AND
BOth teams have LARGE EXTENSIVE fan bases across the country that will draw fans because this is a long time rivalry from the 70s.
The Jets record can be questioned because they survived their last 3 wins either in OT or the last minute with prayers answered. They easily could be a 5-4 team.
The Raiders have brought out the fans because they are again competative and this is a statement game for them because with them playing west division teams which are genrrally viewed as weaker..this is a statement game for them against the Steelers in Pittsburgh.
@ DJP
I agree with you what you have said especially with the Jets’ victories. Oakland-Pittsburgh should be the national game with what you have said.
The only bump would be last week when the popular long time rivalry Chiefs-Broncos was not shown in all western states. However, the Chiefs do not have the large extensive fan base as do the Raiders and Steelers.
@Naqdop
Chiefs @ Broncos couldnt be shown in many western areas because you had all NFC west teams playing so many of the markets carried early games simply because they knew they would get killed in the ratings airing games against those games on.
Also the Chiefs @ Broncos was the late “token” game that markets in east are forced to take. Generally the Token game is not one to be the national game unless it involes certain markets. Last week Ginats @ Seahawks had muich of the big cities in the eat as a late filler game so it got #1 crew because it was aired in major markets.
