NFL 2010 Week 11: CBS Early Game
…
Houston @ NY Jets – Greg Gumbel, Dan Dierdorf
Oakland @ Pittsburgh – Ian Eagle, Dan Fouts [AK, HI]
Baltimore @ Carolina – Kevin Harlan, Solomon Wilcots
Buffalo @ Cincinnati – Gus Johnson, Steve Tasker
Cleveland @ Jacksonville - Bill Macatee, Rich Gannon
Areas in GREY will not receive a game due to NFL rules.
…

I like how OAK-PIT is getting love, but have Kevin Harlan or GuJo call it!!!!!
I like Ian Eagle, but the other two have football voices!!!!!
I love how NFL rules make it so that if you live in an area where the local team is on, the game on the other channel is not. So, most of the US will get to watch Indy/NE, except those of us lucky souls in New Orleans, San Francisco and St Louis.
it’s GREAT to live in an NFC West city
Interesting web site. Do you guys track blackouts?
Cincy officially blacked out. Local website says no early game so they can show Indy/NE as a late game. (The way it is explained was if there is black out – no double header on CBS).
Only remaining Cincy homegame with a chance of selling out looks like New Orleans.

Based on all the guide data I have seen, the 1pm CBS game in Tampa is (thankfully) the Browns/Jaguars.
@ Geoff
Umm, I have an attachment. I have family and friends there. But you’re right, a majority of Steelers fans have no connection to the Pittsburgh area whatesoever.
If blacked out Cincinati will lose the 1pm game, their secondary markets must switch to another game (likely Oakland @ pittsburgh).
Cincinanti also has to switch is FOX game to an early game (green bay @ minnesots)
Agree with Zimmerman. WTSP is Browns/Jaguars.
@Displaced Pittsburg Fan
You pretty much summed up of how i feel. lol. But in the apartment complex that i live in, they dont allow satellite service. so there is no way i could keep up with my Baltimore Ravens. I’ve tried online free streaming, and that didnt work cause the quality and picture is horrible.
@DJP, If Minnesota is blacked out for the Early-Game on CBS, then can you explain to me Why the Duluth Market (KDLH) is any different to Minneapolis market?(WCCO)
KDLH in Duluth, Minnesota is showing Texans@Jets.
and KXJB(owned by Fargo, North Dakota and shared with Thief River Falls, Minnesota) is showing the Raiders@Steelers.
so basically, Northeast Minnesota is showing the Texans@Jets for this sunday
and Northwest Minnesota is showing the Raiders@Steelers for this sunday
Wouldnt it just be easier and wouldnt it make logic sense if the whole state of Minnesota was blacked-out for the early game on CBS, rather than the north-east of Minnesota getting one game, the north-west getting another game, and the metro itself not getting anything????
Thats simply a whole lot of bs, DJP
: /
Thank goodness WTSP is sticking with Cleveland-Jacksonville. Given 10 News’ recent history of passing on Jaguars games, I was sure a switch would happen.
@Jason
Only the 32 primary markets are subject to the blackout rules and limiting to 2 games only when teams is at home playing on Sunday and the network that will air that game is not the doubleheader network.
Duluth and Mankato are the only other instate TV markets that cover Minnesota. Other parts of the state are covered by neighboring states TV markets.
Each market is free to carry what they want except if they are secondary markets. The NFL legally cant force that on those markets.
By that same logic then Buffalo can control all of new york state because its the only team in New York State.
Tennessee could do that to all of the states market and piss off Atlanta fans in Chattanooga.
I know that Lexington’s WKYT has a semi-satellite in Hazard, Kentucky known as WYMT. The latter station has a different television schedule from the former. With the Bengals game blacked, are both stations affected or just WKYT?
@DJP
What do you mean by “Duluth and Mankato are the only other instate TV markets that cover Minnesota”?
They’re not in anyway connected to the local primary station?
I’m assuming in Philly we’re getting the early OAK/PIT game instead of HOU/NYJ because of NYG/PHI matchup on SNF. If we saw NYJ early, that would mean two NY teams would be broadcast in our region on the same day. Yet, I would imagine we’d get NYJ over PIT on any other Sunday. So why not this week? I’m not complaining but just curious…could it be b/c we saw NYJ/CLE last week?…or maybe it’s just a PA in-state thing? Ah well, who knows but CBS.
@Jason….
“@DJP, If Minnesota is blacked out for the Early-Game on CBS, then can you explain to me Why the Duluth Market (KDLH) is any different to Minneapolis market?(WCCO)”
Duluth are not the primary market…Minneapolis is. Thus the blackout rules only cover Primary markets…not secondary or other area markets.
@jr
The reason philly is getting the oakland @ pittsburgh game is because pittsburgh fans overrule Jets fans.
Pittsburgh and philadelphia have fans on the other side of the state so they tend to carry each others games when their isnt a conflict.
It has nothing to do with the giants being on NBC Sunday night.
I hate the NFL and all the local affiliate stations.
The distribution here is reasonable. I thought MI, IN, IL and Atlanta and area would have shown the Oak-Pit game. Is there a local connection with Orlando showing the blue game?
@Naqdop
There doesnt need to have local attachment to this game. Its a long standing interdivisional rivalry from playoff battles of the 70s. this season both seem to be good teams so its attracting more audiences.
Both Oakland and Pittsburgh have fans across the country.
Giants fan living 20 miles north of DC, so I’m happy about the Sunday night game — but Baltimore-Carolina is a good excuse to rake the leaves or alphabetize my shirts.
Wish the league could step in and give us Oakland-Pittsburgh — plenty of Steeler fans around here, plus there’s local interest re: Jason Campbell.
Wish we were seeing the Browns game in Philly this week!
Cincinnati fans are the big losers this week, they will miss out on listening to Gus Johnson.
@blue49
Baltimore is on the road
washington is a secondary market so it must televise the road game—unless the redskins are at hom and the game is sold out and playing at the same time.
the NFL set these rules….the NFL wont change it.
@ytib
If you want to see Cleveland —go to a bar. The Steelers are a very big draw in philly especially with them playing Oakland.
last post the bottom is to be @shelly
What’s it gonna take to get Gus Johnson on a Cleveland Browns game?
Still not sure why south Florida gets the Houston/NY game instead of the instate Jacksonville game. Are the Jets the second home team for south Florida? That’s pathetic.
@David
South FL does not have many Jags fans. It’s the Dolpins in all of South FL and the Bucs on the SW side of FL. Also, like many other places in the US, we do have ALOT of transplants from NY (both Jets & Giants fans), especially in Miami, so that, along with the fact the Jets are in a divisional race with the Dolphins, it makes sense they would show this game down here.
@David
Jets are in the same division as the Dolphins.
If the home team is not on they will tend to show a divisional opponents game because it will draw more fans than another game.
