…
UPDATES
San Diego; Kansas City; Yakima and Kennewick WA; Lewiston ID: DEN-OAK to NYJ-PIT

That seems like a lot of people getting Oakland/Denver, doesn’t it? For a game that means nothing.
http://thebubblescreen.blogspot.com/2010/12/2010-ranking-of-bowls.html
I’m surprised that Joplin/Pittsburg ISN’T getting Oakland/Denver. Chiefs fans have an interest in that. Oakland either keeps pace or a Denver upset (yea, right) puts the Raiders another game back (should the Chiefs win).
However, I personally won’t mind watching Jets/Steelers.
Except that I forgot that I’ll be in western Kansas Sunday visiting my family. But my dad’s a Broncos fan, so he’ll be happy (sorta).
Is it safe to assume that Broncos-Raiders will be blacked out in the Bay and I will get the Jets-Steelers game as an alternative? Gosh I hope so as a football fan, this is NFL hell up here on Sunday’s, Niners and Raiders games always preventing better broadcasts from being shown.
If recent history is any indication, the Raiders will be blacked and Monterey, Sacramento, and San Fran-Oakland will show Jets-Steelers. How many tickets remain?
I HATE JIM NANTZ/PHIL SIMMS IN SOCAL!!!!!!!!
GIVE US GUS JOHNSON!!!!!!!!!!
The Raiders would still have hope with a win and chiefs loss, and that would set up an awesome game with the Colts next week, which could be a knockout game!!!!!
I HATE JIM NANTZ & PHIL SIMMS!!!!!!!!!

If the Pittsburg/NYJ game becomes a blowout. CBS wont do anything.Even if the OAK/KC game becomes tight. You would just be sitting listening to some stupid story Jim Nantz always have.
@Gerardo
I agree. Gus and Steve should be the #1 crew for every DB.
Gerardo,
I see Los Angeles and Palm Springs switching to the Raiders since they’ve shown that team recently when there’s no Chargers conflict, and there is none.
Gerardo and Taylor,
I agree with your case of Gus Johnson being CBS’s top play-by-play announcer (who doesn’t?) but Phil Simms is quite resourceful as an analyst. Jim Nantz was good as host of the NFL Today several years ago and James Brown was with FOX. Nantz would do better as the pregame host.
Another reason Gus Johnson should be the lead announcer: he has a hip personality and would appeal to younger viewers.
I think either KC-St Louis or Jax-Indy should have moved to the late slot so you have an alternative in case the game because a blowout.
If the Raiders are blacked out, another possibility is that Fox will show Atlanta@Seattle and CBS will only show KC@St. Louis.
I agree that Jax/Ind or KC/Rams could have been moved to the late window. But doing that could have created problems for the early slot. If you move Rams/Chiefs, you have two AFC West games with some sort of meaning going on at once, and if you move Jags/Colts, what good game would you have in the early slot? I know that everyone wants good matchups in the late window, but every good game can’t be moved late all the time. If CBS can switch out of Pats/Bears for the Jets/Dolphins snoozefest, surely they can switch out of the Jets/Steelers if that game gets out of hand.
once again cbs and fox don’t want to show the NFC south. Well next Monday night they won’t have a choice. It will be bitter sweet if 3 teams get in from the NFC south leaving out the Giants and the Fudge Pack.
Why does FOX only show a single game and CBS shows two? FOX has better matchups that I’d much rather watch at 1 pm than any of the CBS games put together. Give me NO vs Baltimore or Eagles vs Giants!!! I understand I have the Falcons to watch at 4 pm, but come on already. It’s days like these I wish I had Directv Sunday Ticket so I could just watch whatever I wanted. Time to go the illegal route again and watch it online.
@ Jared
The distribution of doubleheaders for each network is decided before the season starts. You can tell who has it by the start times for the late games. Games that start at 4:15 will be on the network that has the doubleheader. Conference of the visiting team dictates the network.
Come on Raider fans! Don’t buy game tickets!
@Jared
Just go down to your local Subway and get yourself a sandwich or two. I guess you must think that the Jax at Indy game for first place in the AFC South isn’t a ‘good matchup.’
Update: Palm Springs are getting Den-Oak
@ Everyone
Name me your favorite CBS broadcasters
Here are mine:
1. GuJo(Mr. Excitement!!!)
2. Kevin Harlan(Awesome voice)
3. Ian Eagle(Like his voice, don’t know why)
4. Greg Gumble(Eh, better than Nantz)
5. Jim Nantz(RETIRE!!!!!!)
6. Don Criqui(Nice experience)
7. Spero Dedes(Bright future)
8. Bill Macatee(Haven’t heard him, so no opinion)
If Dick Enberg still worked at CBS, I’d have him at a tight #2 or #3
Ummmm….Sean, the Oakland/Denver game is not meaningless.
Denver has been eliminated officially from the post-season but Oakland has not. They need to win out to go to the post-season, but if they end the season either in first place in the AFC West OR in a tie in the AFC West with either Kansas City or San Diego, they go to the playoffs. Reason? The first tie breaker is in head to head and division record. The Raiders would come out on top in both categories at that point so even ending the season in a tie with San Diego or Kansas City sends those two teams home and the Raiders into the playoffs.
So, a meaningless game against Denver? You are 100% wrong.
Greg Gumbel and Dan Dierdorf should be calling the Jets-Steelers game, not Jim (golf voice) Nantz and boring Phil Simms.
Gus Johnson and Ian Eagles sound like wannabes. Kevin Harlan and Greg Gumbel are the the best announcers on CBS.
Does anyone know if the Raiders/Broncos game is a sell-out? Love to see the Stillerz here in SF on Sunday!
BOOOOO!!!!!!
Why dosen’t Los Angeles show the Raiders Game! This has become so sad that Los Angeles CONTINUES to sell-out for East Coast Ratings, and only kisses Chargers-Butt, the opportunity is open because of the Thursday game! At least San Diego County and Kasnas City are keeping AFC West INTEGRITY!
According to this news item, the Raiders are a few thousand tickets short of a sell-out, and the Thursday deadline just passed. They might get an extension, since they’re close, but the weather is supposed to be bad in the Bay Area this weekend, probably limiting demand.
http://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/local-beat/Cable-Begs-Raider-Nation-to-Come-Out-and-Play-112001024.html
Aaron,If DEN@OAK turn’s out to be a better game I’ll eat my words.Your beloved Raiduhs are 2-7 when they don’t play an AFC West team.NYJ/PGH possible rating’s bonanza w/NY @ LA market’s getting the gm.It’s a no-brainer really.Rain or not they can’t even sell it out in OAK…EVER.Lose to AZ etc. etc.;NO SOUP FOR YOU.
Living in San Diego has it’s disadvantages … Being forced to watch Denver vs. Oakland when NYJ vs. Pittsburgh is on!! The NFL is stupid!! If you want the casual (or occasional) fan to watch, then show the best game available … People in San Diego DO NOT care about Oakland or Denver!!
In the Bay Area, CBS-owned KPIX will air NYJ-PIT at 1:15 p.m. Raiders tix sales not close enough for an extension. PIX will not air a game at 10 a.m. as it is not allowed to air both games of a doubleheader if the local contest does not sell out. http://exm.nr/hg1d5x
Tebow’s first NFL start, probably. I’ll bet Fla wishes they had the game.
@Auny
Hate to say this but that isnt how it works…
for the casual fan who just follows the home team they are familiar with who their divisional foes are but not much else.
So if you cant air your home team, airling a divisional rival will generally get much better ratings than airing another game.
Since Oakland has the tiebreaker on the Chargers, this game is important for Charger fans. If Oakland loses then their is little hope for them to win the division and are out if KC wins). Oakland out of the picture helps the Chargers with tiebreakers with the chiefs.
Since Oakland wont sell out the CBS will stay with the late game (Jets-Steelers) and lose the early CBs game. FOx will air an early game.
@John
At this time of year….airing Tebow would only matter in Gainesville…the game is rather meaningless when compared witheir success/failure has had nothign to do with the other options out there.
Even if Tebow starts…that means nothing because Orton will not lose a job based on how he has played this year
WTF??? Again Northern Oregon/Southern Washington gets the Pittsburgh Game. We had to watch Pittsburgh LAST WEEK TOO!!!! Who the F**K cares about Pittsburgh? They are an EAST COAST TEAM!! Show the G*D**M Raiders game you lame A**ES!!!
@ Auny
DJP said it best and that the Raiders are a division rival of the Chargers. I just wish FOX and CBS would be consistent with the division rival.
@ RaiderHays37
I totally agree with you. It is odd that Portland, OR and Spokane, WA are showing the eastern game but in the middle, Yakima is showing the western game. The LA area and AZ should be showing the AFC West game too. However, Denver’s poor record does make the Jets-Steelers game the better pick.
i really hate how they do these regional games scheduling!!!, here in oregon we have no team so the seahawks are the fox local team, BUT, On cbs, it used to be the raiders, which makes sense, but if u look at the scheduled late game on cbs for oregon, it not the raiders home game, i know they are blacked out,(localy), but that should not have anything too do with Oregon , which is 600 miles away(Portland!
@Naqdop & RaiderHays37 & Tsdd2010
Portland and Spokane are airing the Steelers-Jets game is because it is a really good game based on the teams records…plus the morbidity fan wants to see the Jets lose again.
I am sorry but Denver is out of it and Oaklnd is only in this by the skin of their teeth….a loss and a chief win their playoff hopeful season is over.
Other than the yakima blip and idaho…thei game is going to the traditional Raiders and Broncos viewers and AFC west viewers in SD and KC
Please Broncos, start Tim Tebow and make this game worth watching.
We want Tebow’s first start (and the Gus Johnson Experience) here in Gainesville, not the overrated Jets and the comatose Jim Nantz!
The Raiders Broncos game will not be telivised in KC. Mo. WTF? LIES!!!
http://www.kctv5.com/tvlistings/index.html
thanks to all the raider fans for not filling the stadium.now i can watch pittsburgh and the jets
According to zap2it.com KTVQ Billings, MT KXGN Glendive, MT KPAX Missoula, MT KRTV Great Falls, MT KXLF Butte, MT and KXLH Helena, MT is listing NY Jets at Pittsburgh
HELLO NFL SOUTHERN CAL WANTS THE RAIDERS !!!!!!
DJP, I know what you’re saying. I did mention that Denver’s poor record does make the Jets-Steelers game the better pick. Yakima did make the right switch, KC and SD wrong switch.
The Jets-Steelers is good because of their records. Who cares if the Jets lose.
Fine CBS, I knew I wouldn’t be able to watch DA RAIDERS two weeks in a row in KC. Thanks for nothin.
So from what I have been looking at, there are only 2 AFC games, and if I live in AFC WEST Country I don’t need to be watching a game from back east. Come on people, what do you think? RAIDER FANS IN KC, let me here you!!!!
I’m a Raider fan and this is just another advertisement for the NFL Sunday Ticket. It’s a shame the online site showing the Raider game was shut down as my sick mother was watching her favorite team from bed (yea, it’s a sob story but it’s true this time). A big middle finger to the fans saying “If you want to watch your game PAY FOR IT!” I still think in a few years the NFL will not be on free TV but only available on PPV.
4:20 PT the Jets Steelers game is over while the Raiders play and we’re not watching it on KCBS. WTF!
@Drewdove
Not sure where you live…but igf you live in the Bay area or Sacramento then CBS can not flip to the Raiders game because of blackout rules.
Also on the west coast. CBS doesnt always flip to extra coverage of another game because in the Pacific time zone they dont lead into CBS primetime line up like the rest of the country. So those in the mountain time zone flipped to the Raiders game because after the game they launch into their evening prime time lineup after the game.
@DJP
Im in the chicago area and I was wonderin why they didnt switch to raiders/broncos after the jets/steelers game was over in my area too?
