With the Lions avoiding a blackout today, does that negate the NFL rules that are not allowing a CBS early game in Detroit? Or am I missing something?
CBS affiliate here still has no early game on the schedule, but I’m hoping for the Colts game.
@ Rob
No. CBS in Detroit can’t show a 1:00 game because the Lions are at home on FOX at the same time. Sold out or not, no early CBS game in Detroit.
hey,jst wonderng how come here in AZ we get the Chiefs @ Colts game?caus we r closer to Broncos-Ravens game is a bettr match-up.jst post if u know,thnks.
Iagree with bigj7 . I would like to know also .
They picked up the Chiefs because they are undefeated and decided to pick up a non Denver game since they pick up alot of Denver games.
@Rob
Since Detroit was home and CBS has doubleheader you WOULD NOT have seen 3 games.
When that happens and the home market is not a sellout they will carry the non-doubleheader network 1pm game and the double header network 4:15pm game. They had planned that…sincce Detroit sold out they just switched to the Lions game.
Had the Lions been the late token game at 4pm on FOX then they wouldve had to entirely switch programiong on both CBS and FOX.
I AM SOOOOOO MAD RIGHT NOW!!!!!! OK so listen i live in erie pa. So it was the bills at first. But then it was change to the chiefs i was like YEAH! (cuz im a chiefs fan) but then of course wacky Erie changed it to Denver at Baltimore :’( So now im VERY mad!!!! I HATE ERIE!!!!
Thanks for the update
@Grrr
contact your affiliate.
I am not surprised because if not for Buffalo you are in AFC north territory so that is the logical game to take.
Unbelievable. First Portlanders have to suffer through Seattle games because someone in the NFL office can’t read a map and figured Oregon loves Seattle (not!). Now 85% of the country is going to watch TN-DAL and we’re stuck with OAKLAND??? Really??? Guess I’ll turn on NFL Network, turn the volume up and get some cleaning done because I’m NOT wasting 3 hours of my life watching Oakland.
Anyone know why the San Fran CBS station switched from showing the Broncos Ravens game to not showing it, not even showing any morning game at all? I’m so bummed, it was scheduled here up through yesterday and then they switched it. Such BS. Guess I have to watch it illicitly online yet again. Thanks KPIX.
CBS out of baltimore on Dish Network is not showing the Ravens Game!!! Dish Network sucks ass…!!!
Craigary,
The reason KPIX is not airing the early game is because the Oakland Raiders, who are playing at home, are blacked out. When there’s a blackout, then that team’s main market loses the doubleheader and KPIX can therefore only air one game. It’s taking the Titans-Cowboys game because of the national interest. Since that’s a late game on CBS, the FOX station therefore must air an early game because by rule, all markets must have an early game and a late game and it picked Packers-Redskins. Hope this helps you understand better.

Remember Portland is not tied to Seattle and required to carry their games. Last year on a couple of games they flipped off the seattle game.
San Diego @ Oakland is a west coast game so many viewers follow west coast teams…not to mention one of the Portland radio stations picks up Raiders broadcast games.
@Craigary
Because no home sell out they can only show 2 games ..one on each network which means 1pm FOX and 4:15 CBS.
@Dave
Dish network where you live may not pick up the baltimore stations…instead you have the DC CBS affiliate…..look at what station you have on.
Thanks for the insight guys, it does help explain it a lot better. Cheers. (Still frustrating though, but then again it spared me watching my Broncos get their butts kicked
)
Does anyone have a list of the protected games that cannot be flexed by the NFL?
